Aastra 5i series includes 51i, 53i, 55i, and 57i. Recently Aastra renamed the models to 6751i, 6753i, 6755i, and 6757i respectively. Simton IPX supports the Aastra 5i series IP phones. The Aastra IP phones in business environment are used as IP extensions of the Simton IPX systems.
In the Simton IPX, you need to define an IP extension for the IP phone in “Basic Voice > Extensions > IP Extensions”. The extension number and password are the authentication data when the Aastra IP phone registers with the Simton IPX.
The Aastra IP phone must be able to reach the Simton IPX so that it can register with it.
1. If the Aastra IP phones are at the LAN side of the Simton IPX, the Aastra IP phone reaches the Simton IPX through the IP address of IPX LAN port;
2. If the Aastra IP phones are in a private network behind a DSL and can reach the Simton IPX through the Simton IPX WAN port, the IP address of IPX WAN port will be used for registration.
3. If the Aastra IP phones are in the Internet or a remote private location, it can reach the Simton IPX using the domain name of the IPX.
To configure Aastra IP phone, you need to use an Internet browser to access the IP phone. You can use “Options” key and select “Phone Status” to find out the current IP address of the phone. The Aastra IP phone default user name and password are admin/22222.
Within the Aastra configuration system, you can select “Advanced Settings” > “Global SIP” and configure the page as in the following diagram.

The IPX address of register server and proxy servers should be set to the IPX IP address that can be reached from the Aastra IP phone. The default port number is 8060. Please note that Basic Codecs settings must be enabled.
If the Aastra IP phone supports multiple lines, the individual lines can be configured with different IPX extension numbers. The lines that are not specifically configured will use the Global SIP line configuration.
